Donald Trump returns to Fox News after flap

Donald Trump said Monday that Fox News anchor and debate moderator Megyn Kelly should be the one apologizing to him, and not the other way around.

Trump said his comments were only a rebuttal after, “sexist questions” he received from Kelly during last week’s primetime debate.

Speaking on CNN Friday evening, Mr. Trump said of Ms. Kelly: “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever”.

But many people believed the candidate was implying that Kelly was on her period.

Referring to Trump’s loud griping, Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of Fox News Channel’s parent company, 21st Century Fox, stood by the network’s talent, remarking on social media, “Baier, Kelly, Wallace great job Thursday”.

“I don’t want to discuss that on this show”, he said. Megyn Kelly is a strong woman and more than capable of defending herself against Donald Trump.

I assured him that we will continue to cover this campaign with fairness & balance”, Ailes said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton mocked Trump as the Republican presidential field’s shock jock, but said other candidates’ positions on women’s rights are more offensive.

But Ms Kelly told her viewers she “will not apologise for doing good journalism”. Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, Chris Christie, John Kasich, Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham and George Pataki will face off on CNN September 16.

“It’s absolutely possible that at some point I would change that”, Trump said, but he added, such a change “is not imminent”.

The scheduled appearances come shortly after a network blackout following last week’s GOP primary debate. Do you think I make a stupid comment like that? “I’m anxious about what Republican policies would do to the rest of America’s women and I will continue to speak out and speak up about that today and through the rest of this campaign and in the White House”.

“I’ve decided not to respond [to those comments]”, Kelly noted.

Mr Trump’s admission that he might run as an independent angered fellow Republican contender Rand Paul who said: “He buys and sells politicians of all stripes”.
