A spokesperson from the textile manufacturer said they only produced the national flags being sold to visitors, and the ones used at the medal presentation ceremonies were not their products.
“After being haunted by negative news for months, including postponed constructions and security problems, Rio won the Chinese back by a successful and creative opening ceremony”.
However, the four smaller stars that appeared on flags used in medal ceremonies in the early days of the Olympics were parallel with each other.
The error was first spotted by Chinese fans online who protested against a “plot” and slammed the Games as the “worst ever”. A CCTV anchor called out the mistake on Weibo.
As it turns out, the flags were all made in China.
“I am not trying to be picky because of obsessive compulsive disorder, but this is the national flag.it is a principle that even primary school students could understand”, Cui said”. It’s something you have to pay particular attention to.
Accordingly, the topic with the hashtag “the opening ceremony of the Rio Games” became trending over Sina Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, and was view a staggering 220 million times.
