Harley Quinn could be year’s most popular movie character

That’s really disappointing to hear, considering The Joker got 10 minutes of screen time at the very most in Suicide Squad.

The negative reviews resulted in a petition on Change.org calling for Rotten Tomatoes to be closed down which has so far attracted over 21,500 supporters.

Plus, audiences can still check out the current box office champ – Matt Damon as Jason Bourne in the fifth installment of the spy franchise, which took in $60 million its debut weekend.

This means Suicide Squad has topped Marvel’s own Guardians of the Galaxy, which held the previous record for August openings with $11.2 million from its 2014 preview night. Players can now earn Suicide Squad themed rewards, including new companion cards, from these modes. Hitting theatres in 57 global markets, the film managed to pull it together after negative reviews threatened to derail initial estimates, which predicted that the DC Comics adaptation could hit as high as $140 million.

Jeff Goldstein of Warner Bros said of the record: “It bested anything that we could have expected”.

Despite the bad reviews that “Suicide Squad” initially got during its premiere, it is now considered a box-office success.

Still, it’s not like Suicide Squad is hurting for business.

Speaking to Reuters at the film’s London premiere, Delevingne, who plays Enchantress, said “the critics have been absolutely horrific, they’re really, really disgusting”. Warner Bros released the film across 4,255 locations.
