Sunday was last day of the “Stuff The Bus” campaign and the donations have been loaded up and sent off.
The distrct called on Tallahassee residents to fill a school bus with supplies for the upcoming fall semester. Western Superintendent Randy McCracken and Assistant Superintendent Heather Hendrich waited near a school bus ready to accept donations and distribute vouchers for a free order of biscuits and gravy from Windmill Grill.
The donations requested include: backpacks, calculators, flash drives, pencils, sharpeners, pens, rulers, paper, tape, scissors, glue and crayons. So how do we get them through the weekend?
The bus wasn’t exactly stuffed, but event was successful, Hendrich said.
“We’ve had people drive up in their pickup trucks and hand us a pocket of change saying ‘I can’t give much but I can give this, ‘ and it’s just this really wonderful way to see how everybody gives what they can, and together we’re able to do really awesome things in our community”, said Skornogoski.
“Shoppers are really good about helping with this”, Holland said.
