Gulf Coast urged to prepare for heavy rain, potential floods
A low-pressure system was stalled over the northern Florida peninsula, fueling a chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms that the National Weather Service put at 80 percent to 90 percent across the northern Gulf Coast.

Accuweather said the area that could see heavy rain anytime between Tuesday and Friday extends from northern Florida to just west of Terrebonne Parish.
The feels like temperature today will return to the 104 to 106 range before those cooling storms return later this afternoon.
The area of low pressure will gradually move westward closer to the New Orleans area by mid-week which will mean an increase in our rain chances a bit more locally, but the flooding threat will remain well east of the Lake Charles area.
This tropical low would have a low chance to develop into a tropical system near the Big Bend region of Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center. Well, if you are headed to the Gulf Coast then mother nature may rain on your parade. Severe weather is not expected, but winds could be gusty and cloud-to-ground lightning will be frequent.
A slow-moving upper-level low will be responsible for significant amounts of rain along the Gulf Coast and in southern Alabama and Georgia next week.
Some slight development is possible before the system moves inland over the southeastern United States in a couple of days.

Tampa Bay area residents may have to endure a few more waterlogged days, but a storm now over north Florida isn’t likely to develop more. The disturbance has been given no chance of further formation over the next five days. Tropical Storm Earl is blamed for six deaths in Mexico from a landslide, the Associated Press reported Saturday.
