Five days ago, Carey stopped by TCA to talk about her upcoming E! docuseries Mariah’s World, her Sweet Sweet Fantasy concert tour and her personal life.

Fox announced today that it will indeed happen this fall, when the chanteuse makes a guest appearance on Daniels’ series as Kitty, a mega-superstar who comes to Empire to collaborate with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) on an new song.

Other Season 3 guest stars include the previously reported Taye Diggs and rapper French Montana. At the beginning of Season 2, “Empire” showrunner Ilene Chaiken told us that Carey guest starring is a “really exciting proposition”. Hamri, who is also a frequent director on the hip-hop drama, has helmed several of Carey’s music videos including “Thank God I Found You”, “CryBaby” and her 2011 update of “All I Want for Christmas Is You” with Justin Bieber.

Carey has been long rumored to appear on “Empire”.

Last year, Carey’s pal and Empire creator, Lee Daniels, promised fans that she would drop by the show. I don’t even know what reality is. The “We Belong Together” and “One Sweet Day” singer, who still ranks as the bestselling female recording artist of all time, is now in the midst of a Las Vegas residency.
