Two security guards at Kalafong Hospital, which is situated east of Pretoria, told City Press yesterday that Pistorius was admitted at 12.30pm.
The Paralympic gold medallist, first being found guilty of culpable homicide for the 2013 Valentine’s Day killing of Ms Reeva Steenkamp, saw his conviction upgraded to murder in December past year by an appeals court.
Having received external treatment Saturday, Pistorius returned to the prison where he is serving his sentence.
Pistorius’s family declined to comment, referring inquiries to the department. While he has called the killing accidental – he claims he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder – and has maintained his innocence ever since, he was initially found guilty of manslaughter in 2014.
He was rushed from Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria to hospital on Saturday and discharged later that day and taken back to prison.
He won six Paralympic gold medals and, at London 2012, became the first athlete to compete in both the Paralympic and Olympic Games.
They want him to be jailed for at least 15 years, with the six-year term prompting fresh criticism in South Africa and across the world.
The country’s National Prosecuting Authority said the sentence was “disproportionate to the crime” and could bring the justice system “into disrepute”.
