Paul Pogba completes Man Utd transfer for world-record fee

Manchester United earned more than £500 million in the last tax year, meaning that Pogba signing will be around 18% of that income, meaning it is easily afforded by the club and his resale value will be good as he is heading into the period of his career where he will soon start to hit his peak and become much better still.

The transfer from Juventus will be a world record at £89 million, a lot cheaper than the £100 million fee being touted in the media for the last few weeks.

The Telegraph claim that Pogba passed his medical examination and say that the club are now just waiting on some blood samples to be returned from Manchester hospital and to agree some minor contract details before announcing the deal.

Pogba, who left United in 2012 to join Juventus after growing frustrated with his lack of opportunities under Sir Alex Ferguson, was later confirmed as a United player in the small hours of Tuesday morning.

And a statement on the United website – under the hashtag “Pogback” – read: “Paul Pogba has been granted permission to have a medical in order to finalise his transfer from Juventus to Manchester United”.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Juventus and have some fantastic memories of a great club with players that I count as friends”. “I feel the time is right to go back to Old Trafford”.

But it seems like we’ve reached end game in another ludicrously protracted transfer saga with Pogba flying in to have a medical with the club.

If you want to be the best player in the world, I think if you go to Barcelona or to Real Madrid, you are in trouble.

“It is another player to fit in our strong squad, there’ll be people fighting for places now and that’s what you need at a top club like Man United to push us all on to win more trophies”.

United will pay the Italian champions 105m euros for Pogba, plus 5m euros (£4.5m) in performance-related bonuses and other costs.

The 23-year-old has developed into one of the world’s most promising midfielders during his time at Juve, winning four consecutive Serie A titles, two editions of the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup. Pogba’s fee places him ahead of former Tottenham forward Gareth Bale as the world’s most expensive player.

Defender Eric Bailly, midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic have already joined to help United return to the Champions League.

“He is young and will continue to improve”, Mourinho said.

His agent Mino Raiola stoked the flames by saying a number of clubs were interested in his client and continued to deny a deal with United had been agreed.
