Trump makes up with party, Clinton wrestles with trust

Desperate conservatives have circulated a petition calling for the Republican National Committee to host a special meeting where Donald Trump could be replaced as the party’s presidential nominee.

“In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation”, wrote Morell, who was CIA director in the Obama administration and now works for a firm run by one of Clinton’s closest advisers. And very importantly toward real change.

“In our shared mission to make America great again, I support and endorse our Speaker of the House Paul Ryan”, he said, to cheers from the Green Bay crowd.

Yet Trump’s own gaffes have largely overshadowed Clinton’s problems as the Democrats work to recover from a bruising primary election season.

It’s a remarkable backtrack for several reasons.

Donald Trump turned his attention to the economy with a major policy address in which he cast himself as a president who could bring new jobs and prosperity and warning that his rival, Hillary Clinton, would be a steward of stagnation.

Meanwhile, Trump’s criticism of both McCain and Ayotte was harsh. “We’re going to do a lot of wonderful things”, he added.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech on the economy today at 12 p.m. EDT.

Trump’s ratings in general haven’t worsened — they just haven’t improved since he claimed the Republican nomination. Clinton has argued that Trump is focused only on the wealthiest Americans.

And the fact that Ryan is publicly sweating that flip is just a stark reminder of how Trump’s candidacy is freaking out donors and the GOP elite. Perhaps someone concerned about GOP unity in 2016 actually did intervene, as multiple outlets reported was being planned by “key Republicans” this week.

Trump will be in Detroit, the heart of American manufacturing, Monday to lay out his economic plan.

He said in the same interview that Mr McCain had not done enough for veterans and criticised Ms Ayotte for distancing herself from him during the campaign.

In the past, Mr Trump questioned Mr McCain’s status as a war hero, and that he “should have done a much better job for the vets”. “All of these are unsafe qualities in an individual who aspires to be President and Commander-in-Chief, with command of the USA nuclear arsenal”.

Trump has praised Putin as a great leader, and taken policy positions “consistent with Russian, not American, interests”, including endorsing Russian espionage against USA figures like Clinton, Morell said.

With Election Day exactly three months away, Clinton kicked off the week with campaign stops in the crucial battleground state of Florida.
