US women use balanced attack for 2nd rout, beat Spain 103-63
It was only the first game for the US women’s basketball team and they’re already breaking their own Olympic records. The 65-point win is also Team USA’s largest in history, breaking the record of 60 against Zaire in 1996.

Although the United States of America are one of the most dominant teams in all of sports, they still maintain a relatively close relationship with their fans, many of whom have followed the current generation of players since they were in college.
The 121 points are the most the USA women have ever scored in an Olympic basketball game.
“I don’t know what’s good and bad anymore for the game”, Taurasi said.
Team USA probably has the most talent its ever had, and they only have one true point guard in Sue Bird.
Team USA has won two games by 105 points and things haven’t been close at any point.
It seems as if nothing can stop the US juggernaut as the mighty Americans ran their Olympic winning streak to 42 games, a 24-year stretch of domination dating back to the 1992 Barcelona Summer Games. They continued to assert their supremacy, outscoring Senegal BLANK to BLANK the rest of the way. Delle Donne had 11 points, six assists, and two steals against Senegal. The Americans led 35-9 after the first quarter and by 43 at the half en route to a 42nd consecutive Olympic win. “They have to have a really, really bad game for us to have a chance to win it”. Stewart, who won four titles under Auriemma at UConn, scored 15 points, tied for the team lead with Taurasi and Sylvia Fowles. “And I don’t know what else to say”.
Coach Geno Auriemma experimented with different lineups trying to come up with a combination that could execute.
Brittney Griner added 14 points and matched Fowles with a game-high seven rebounds in her US Olympic debut. We’re sharing the ball. So, I was thoroughly impressed and really, really happy with the way it played out for them.
Once again the depth of Team USA was highlighted with all 12 players getting on the scoreboard, including five in double digits with Diana Taurasi leading the way with 13 points. In fact, Senegal had more turnovers than they did field goals (27-19)-a credit to the hard work of the women and Auriemma in such little time to prepare. She helped stretch the floor and hit one from three-point range.

“We talked in the locker room about how we want to play offensively, and how we want to attack and how we want to be hard to play against”, Auriemma said. “There’s something to be said about a team that can come together in two weeks and play the way we’re playing right now”.
