Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Features an Iris Scanner

The all-new Note was unveiled today at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event; skipping over the previously expected “Note6” title, the 7 is a bigger, better complement to the flagship S7 and S7 edge.

Though both handsets have dual-curved display, the Note 7’s curved screen is more pronounced and with less sloping than the screen of the S7 Edge, as pointed out by CNET. Samsung is also offering a deal that lets you get a free Gear Fit 2 when you buy a Galaxy Note 7.

The new Galaxy Note features an iris scanner and an S-Pen that allows users to translate words. The Note 7 will be available in Black, Silver, Gold and Blue when it launches. Other than the stylus, the Galaxy Note 7 also brings several other enhancements and features to the device versus Galaxy Note 5. As a matter of fact, companies such as, Fujitsu, Alcatel and Chinese manufacturer ZTE have already created phones with similar technology, according to the source.

So how does it work? (Don’t worry, you won’t be surprised with a flash of light.) The data collected from the scan is saved and encrypted on the phone, and you can opt to unlock your phone. However, we’re hoping Samsung won’t take too much time to update it to the latest operating system.

Unlike BlackBerry handsets, there is no restriction for Samsung devices in general, as most of the networks and even retailers are selling this device. Samsung has also used Corning’s new Gorilla Glass 5 that will – hopefully – keep your smartphone safe (r).

Adding an extra security feature, the iris scanner enables only the owner of the device to use the smartphone. Despite that, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6 joined the Galaxy S7 Edge among the three most popular smartphones in that period. The phone is waterproof and dunkable, has a microSD memory card slot, and you can move apps to the SD card if you want.

After months of anticipation and a bunch of leaks, finally Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is here.

The Note 7 has a 5.7-inch superAMOLED screen. Despite the large build of the Note 7, it only comes with a 3,500mAh non-removable Li-Po battery.

Samsung has a knack for taking popular digital habits and baking them into its phones. Six years later, the Note series is still popular. It also has S Pen stylus.

And while the Note 5’s S Pen was a great feature in itself, Samsung enhanced the same in the Galaxy Note 7.

The combination means that if you ever need to, you could write notes underwater and pin it to your lock screen. Nevertheless, the pre-order date remains the same. Carriers expected to start selling on August 19.

While Samsung dominated the Android category, shipments of Apple’s iPhones fell 16 percent annually from 108.7 million in the first half of 2015 to 91.6 million in the first half of 2016, according to Strategy Analytics. Pricing options will be announced by individual carriers.
