Trump Belatedly Endorses Paul Ryan and John McCain
And the fact that Ryan is publicly sweating that flip is just a stark reminder of how Trump’s candidacy is worrying donors and the GOP elite.

Ryan reiterated his support for Trump hours before the endorsement, but the Wisconsin Republican noted his support wasn’t a “blank check” and pledged to speak out against the businessman’s divisive positions if necessary.
“We will have disagreements, but we will disagree as friends and never stop working together toward victory”, Donald Trump said. Trump said he was “not quite there yet” on endorsing Ryan. The fact that Nehlen has achieved that-and put Ryan on his heels politically-has shocked the political establishment around the country.
On Thursday, Ryan again condemned Trump’s remarks about the Khans as “beyond the pale” and acknowledged that at some point, Trump could go too far for Ryan to be able to continue to support him. “How do we get back to a healthy rate of economic growth which we haven’t had in a decade?” With all of the attention being on Trump’s endless series of negative headlines, Republicans are caught in a bad publicity machine.
Heavy hitters like Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, and Rush Limbaugh had all expressed the hope that Ryan would lose to his primary opponent Paul Nehlen. Republican leaders and military veterans have called on Trump to apologize for criticizing the Khan family, who appeared at last week’s Democratic National Convention.
Asked whether the candidates have the right personality and temperament to be president, 61% said Clinton does, while 31% said Trump does. Trump wrongly claimed, as he often does on the campaign trail, that he did not support the Iraq War.
Almost 60 percent said Clinton has the personality and temperament to serve as president, compared to 33 percent for Trump.
Trump is set to deliver an economic speech on Monday to the prestigious Detroit Economic Club in his effort to step past his spats over the past 10 days with the Muslim-American parents of a slain Army captain and the leaders of a Republican Party he has promised to unite. “She’s got problems”, Trump said Saturday night, according to CNN.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Trump “should have done that in the first place”, but has “gotten the messages” from other Republicans to unify the divided GOP. “We’re going to do a lot of wonderful things”, he added.
Some Republicans are giving their presidential candidate positive reinforcement for reversing himself and endorsing House Speaker Paul Ryan, Sen.
Kasich has not endorsed Trump, and he skipped the Republican National Convention in Cleveland.
“Her greatest achievement is getting out of trouble”, Trump said of the Justice Department’s decision not to file charges.

The former secretary of state sought to “clarify and explain” a recent statement on Fox News Sunday that FBI Director James Comey said her answers to the bureau about her use of a private email server were “truthful”.
