Cat owners are more likely to be single and have fewer friends than dog owners, according to the study.

“Cat people tend to get invited to more events, so they’re putting their friendships to good use!” researchers pointed out.

First of all, the study found there are more “dog people” than “cat people”.

Canine club members were less varied on the emotional spectrum, being more likely to express excitement or pride. Just 24% of dog people are single compared with 30% of cat people.

Cat people are more likely to be single.. What’s perhaps more surprising is that while cat lovers are notorious for being single, it wasn’t limited to an older, female set. Age and gender didn’t seem to make a difference.

Cat people feel a lot of feels..

Overall, it appeared that cat people consumed and enjoyed a wider ranger of books, television shows, and movies that dog people: fitting activities to enjoy on a couch nestling with a fur pillow aka a cat.

“Stereotypically, dogs are more social and easy-going, while cats are reserved, independent and unpredictable”, the authors wrote.

Dog people, like their outgoing, waggy-tailed companions, were found to be more popular – if popularity is judged by the number of online connections.

Cat people are especially fond of fantasy, science fiction and anime.

The startling findings, drawn from a sample of 160,000 Facebook users in the United States who had posted pictures of cats or dogs, are likely to act as a catalyst for more bloodshed between Team Cat and Team Dog.

When it comes to curling up at home for some entertainment, both cat and dog owners equally love “Seinfeld”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “The Great Gatsby”, and “Frozen”. If equal proportions of cat and dog people like a show/movie, no bar is visible.

Those who were identified as cat people not only disproportionately said they were exhausted and sad, but also expressed that they felt more positive emotions like amusement and happiness compared to dog people. Cat people favored Terminator 2, Naruto and Dracula.
