Ryan, who has criticized aspects of Trump’s campaign, replied that his endorsement of the NY businessman is not a blank check, and “if I see and hear things that I think are wrong, I’m not going to sit by and say nothing”. Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos offered a blunt message ahead of the presidential nominee’s arrival.
Pence insisted that he and Trump see “eye to eye” on the issue, even though Pence and Trump disagree on whether to support House Speaker Paul Ryan, who has also criticized the NY businessman.
“Wisconsin, please vote for this man “of the people” this Tuesday!” she wrote.
Ryan has criticized or differed with Trump publicly on several occasions while continuing to support him. He repeatedly told Wisconsin radio stations in recent days that he’s only seeking endorsements from the voters in his district, and a Ryan aide said he hadn’t received word as of early Friday afternoon of Trump’s plans.
Palin endorsed Trump in the lead-up to the Iowa caucuses and emerged as one of his highest-profile surrogates during the Republican primary.
Paul Ryan and other elected Republicans haven’t held back criticism for Trump either.
While many prominent Republicans have either only given half-hearted endorsements of Trump, or no support at all, few Republican groups have given as strong of a condemnation of Trump.
Trump struck a rare conciliatory tone at a Wisconsin rally on Friday, imploring his party to unite behind him and opening a full-throttle attack on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
On Monday, Sen. John McCain, whom Trump once mocked for being captured during the Vietnam War, rebuked Trump’s comments about the Khans.
“In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation”, wrote Morell, who was CIA director in the Obama administration and now works for a firm run by one of Clinton’s closest advisers.
“I like Paul, but these are terrible times for our country”. But in neighboring Wisconsin, a state Trump insists he can win, the state’s best-known Republicans said they were too busy to attend an evening event.
“It’s time to change a rigged political system that works only for the insiders and to replace it with a government that serves the people”, Trump said. And I’m just not quite there yet.
The refusal to back Ryan had been seen by many as a final straw.
Schricker was most recently upset by Pence’s statements concerning Trump’s proposed Muslim ban and controversial comments about the Khan family.
Trump’s running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, did endorse Ryan the following day – a move that both Pence and Trump have said occurred with Trump’s blessing.
Fox News’s John Roberts is reporting, through two sources, that the republican nominee will endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan’s re-election bid at a rally in Green Bay tonight. He’s a strong conservative leader.
