Trump’s economic speech disrupted by series of protests
Trump’s Detriot economic speech contained the usual mix of conspiracy theories and outright lies that have defined the Republican nominee’s campaign. Bonjean called the Detroit Economic Club, where 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney spoke, a “rite of passage” for White House hopefuls.

A much smaller group of Trump supporters gathered nearby.
“But Donald Trump is not the answer to America’s daunting challenges and to this crucial election”, it says.
“I want to jump-start America”.
This highlights a key problem with analyzing Trump’s policy proposals: They don’t really exist.
During his speech, Trump paused to let the disruption subside several times and occasionally continued speaking through protesters as the audience offered him applause and standing ovations. His advisers have said he will focus on trade, taxes, immigration and regulation.
On taxes, Trump will discuss plans to reduce the personal income tax rate, moving from seven brackets to three, and implement a flat 15 percent corporate tax rate, down from the current maximum rate of 35 percent.
He revamped his previous proposal, unveiled during the GOP primary, by increasing the amount that the highest-individual income earners would pay. First, many working-class households do not pay any federal taxes on their income. Trump’s proposal from previous year had envisioned four brackets: zero, 10 percent, 20 percent and 25 percent.
Numerous same leaders wrote an open letter in March during the Republican primaries condemning Trump and pledging to oppose his candidacy, at a time when other GOP candidates remained in the race. Frustrated Republicans plan to put forth a conservative alternative to Trump, former top House aide and former Central Intelligence Agency officer Evan McMullin.
When he speaks Monday in the city that has become a symbol of the USA manufacturing plight, Trump is expected to reiterate his plan for reducing the corporate tax rate to 15 percent from the current 35 percent – in an effort to draw new investment – as well as eliminating the estate tax and calling for a temporary moratorium on new regulations.
This won’t be the first time Trump lays out his economic vision.
“In short, the city of Detroit is the living, breathing example of my opponent’s failed economic agenda”, Trump said, referring to Clinton. He called her “the candidate of the past”.
Mr. Trump has lost ground in the polls following a feud with the Muslim parents of Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who died in Iraq in 2004, and comments he made about how women should respond to sexual harassment in the workplace.
At her own rally in St. Petersburg, Florida, Clinton assailed Trump’s plans, arguing they would benefit the rich and do little to create jobs or boost the economy. The speech comes after he announced Friday his 13-member economic advisory team.
It came as part of Clinton’s rebuttal to a speech by Trump in Detroit, trumpeting his jobs plan.
Trump also revisited his opposition to current trade deals, including his plan to renegotiate the NAFTA trade agreement with Canada and Mexico.
