PM Modi Was Sleeping Like ‘Kumbhakarna’: Mayawati On Dalit Atrocities

“If you want to shoot, shoot me, but don’t shoot my Dalit brothers”, said the Prime Minister, while addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party’s “Karyakarta Maha Sammelanam” here. I have asked him to clarify what evidence he has to back his statement.

‘Why should we exploit our Dalit brothers? “You can shoot me rather than target the Dalits”. Noting the importance of cooperative federalism for the country’s development, the Prime Minister said the Centre and States are now working together for this objective.

“It was actually the prime minister himself who raked up the cow slaughtering issue during the 2014 general election campaign…since the BJP is facing a widespread criticism over the floggings of Dalit youths in Una, Gujarat, Narendera Modi was forced to react”, he said. They fear that if the Dalits come to know of what Modi did for them, their base would be lost.

“It is a social problem and it has been plaguing us for centuries”.

Modi described caste discrimination as an evil which crept into society thousands of years ago.

He also stressed that society should not be allowed to be divided on the basis of caste and community.

At least five Muslim men were killed past year by Hindu mobs on suspicion of eating beef or smuggling cows across the country.

On Facebook, the owner of Subramanian Swamy’s parody account has published more than 20 images of alleged cow protector goons with senior BJP leaders including the Anurag Thakur, the party MP and the newly appointed BCCI president. “Muslims share the pain and suffering that poor Dalits are being subjected to as they too have been attacked by the cow vigilantes”, said activist Firoz Mithiborewala.

The PM had also revealed 80% Cow Vigilantes are fake and asked the State Governments to identify and punish such people.

The PM said he salute real “gau rakshaks” and “gau sevaks” and appealed to them to come forward to expose fake “gau rakshaks“.

“If the Prime Minister had given the same message earlier, we would not have seen this menace of gau rakshaks spreading pan India”. “I would like to tell all countrymen that they be wary of these fake cow protectors”.

After the prime minister asked states to act against the cow vigilantes, on Monday, the Punjab police lodged an FIR against Satish Kumar, chief of the “Gau Raksha Dal”, a vigilante outfit known for perpetrating violence against those who they accuse of threatening cows.
