Meanwhile, under pressure from the United World Wrestling, a hesitant Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) on Tuesday, named Parveen Rana for the replacement slot in order to preserve India’s Olympic quota in the 74kg freestyle category.
Earlier, 26-year-old grappler Narsingh Singh tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid, two weeks before the Rio Olympics. “Yes, he (Narsingh) tested positive for a banned steroid. Narsingh was personally present when his B sample was opened”, NADA DG told PTI. I can’t disclose the name of the athlete and can’t rule out whether he is going to Rio or not.
It was a bolt from blue for Narsingh who had been preparing for Rio for the last four years and training very hard for Olympics which are at hand.
“We did not go to court to stop Narsingh”. They say that no sportsman will do that to jeopardise their best chance at an Olympic medal. He was found positive for two banned substances androsterone and etiocholanolone.
The Dispute With both the A and B samples coming back positive, it means Yadav would have needed to prove his food was contaminated in a conspiracy to prevent him from competing.
Fadnavis’s statement came just a day after Sports Minister Vijay Goel on Monday hinted that Narsingh Yadav’s prospects of participating at the Rio Olympics is virtually over.
At the time, Yadav reportedly did not want to pursue the matter even though there was CCTV footage of the kitchen which could have identified any such intruder.
“I am being targeted and it’s a clear case of conspiracy against me”, he said.
Little wonder that support has been coming thick and fast for Narsingh Yadav in the doping row.

“Narsingh complained in writing to us that a conspiracy has been hatched against him and I and the entire nation believe him because he has nothing to do with the substance”. The Indian contingent’s preparations for Rio have been hit by controversy following the positive dope tests of Yadav and shot putter Inderjeet Singh. This report will be helpful when Narsingh claims his innocence to the panel that he was sabotaged.
