Jared Lorenzen tweets Jets he is available to play quarterback
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith needs surgery and is out at least 6 to 10 weeks after being what is called “sucker punched” by a teammate in the Jets locker room on Tuesday.

IK Enemkpali believed Smith owed him money and when Smith didn’t pay up, Enemkpali retaliated.
ESPN analyst Cris Carter questioned Smith’s “leadership” in the moments after the news broke.
“It was something very childish, something sixth-graders could’ve talked about”, Bowles said.
Enemkpali did issue a formal apology via Twitter.
Bowles, in his first season as coach, dealt with the news last month that star defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson was suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy and then was charged with resisting arrest after a high-speed road race in Missouri 12 days later.
Though the Jets signed veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick in the offseason, Smith was named the Jets’ starter by offensive coordinator Chan Gailey this past May.
Meanwhile, the Jets are in need of another quarterback. “It was very childish”, Bowles said.
Enemkpali’s release means he misses out on the $510,000 he would have been paid to play for the Jets this season. “It’s something we don’t tolerate, something we can’t stand. You don’t walk up to another man and punch him in the face”. Now he may never get that chance, especially if Smith’s replacement puts together a decent showing in his absence. I deeply regret and apologise for my actions.
Geno Smith’s hopes for a breakout season with the New York Jets took a major blow – to the jaw. He led Louisiana Tech’s defense in 2013 with 5.0 sacks and 11.0 tackles for loss en route to earning first-team All-Conference USA honors. Maybe the Jets can throw in the towel on 2015 and entertain the rest of us with Lorenzen and his Super Bowl-winning pedigree.
According to ESPN, this isn’t Enemkpali’s first physical altercation.

The six-foot-one, 261-pound Enemkpali was arrested in April 2011 for disturbing the peace and battery of a police officer after an off-campus incident in Ruston, Louisiana, the Austin American-Statesman reported in May 2014. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
