In early August, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued its first-ever advisory against travel to a US destination when it advised pregnant women not to visit the Miami-Wynwood area.
At this point, state health officials think active Zika transmission is taking place only in the Miami-Wynwood cluster area. Spokeswoman Jennifer Meale said Palm Beach County was among those that had submitted samples.
It also noted the Department of Health’s belief that all the locally transmitted Zika cases “to date” are confined to the Wynwood neighborhood and buffer zone in Miami.

The Florida senator was the first Republican to co-sponsor Obama’s now-failed Zika-fighting funding. It’s becoming a growing threat with 357 travel-related cases and another 17 non-travel-related in Florida as of Monday.
But Manatee County has already had several travel-related cases of Zika, which bring concern, Jothi said.
Zika is spread through the Aedes species mosquito.
This year, the Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed a total of 10 imported cases throughout the state.

Even though the Harvard poll shows high support for late-term abortion in Zika cases, Freund and others said no exceptions should be made after 24 weeks of gestation. The hotline has fielded more than 3,442 calls since it was launched February 12, the state reported.
