MGCCC had hoped Valentine would helped draw attention away from standout defensive end Isaiah Buggs this season as the Bulldogs contend for another MACJC championship.

LaCouture is expected to miss the entire 2016 season. LaCouture, a 300-pounder who spurned the National Football League to return for his senior year, was expected to play a key role in new defensive coordinator Dave Aranda’s 3-4 scheme. He was the third-ranked tackle coming out of high school and is the No. 1 junior-college defensive tackle in this year’s recruiting class.

Travonte Valentine, a 340-pound defensive tackle, on Monday told 247Sports that he was rejoining the team 13 months after he was dismissed for a violation of team rules. Alongside Lewis Neal, Davon Godchaux and Christian LaCouture, Valentine will make up a line that figures to provide nightmare mismatches for LSU opponents. The door is also open for new guys like Rashard Lawrence and Ed Alexander, highly touted big bodies who might now see significant playing time. He was scheduled to back up outside linebacker/defensive end Arden Key.

Freshmen Sci Martin and Rahsann Thornton will move up in the rotation to take Washington’s place. The source said LaCouture, a senior, could possibly return in time for a bowl game but it wasn’t a sure thing.
