Along with members of the NY state police, crime scene emergency response team members passed up buckets of evidence. In Walmart’s parking lot? “They did a fantastic job collecting, photographing the scene and bringing the items out here”, said Chamberlin.
“I seen men suited up, and I didn’t know if somebody got hurt….”
This group deals specifically with unsafe chemical situations, most commonly meth labs.
Some shoppers were anxious that they were being exposed to hazardous chemicals.
Shoppers watched as the evidence was reviewed in the parking lot. Dawn Clowen was driving home from work when she found out and made a decision to stop by.
“It’s a concern I mean it’s unbelievable in this area, this isn’t a bad area”, said Steve Harding, who lives about two miles from the store. “Just not a safe environment, I mean, you can’t feel safe anywhere anymore”, says Clowen.
Officers said they found a spray paint can, chemicals and a liquid they believed to be methamphetamine..
Fire companies from Buffalo, Tonawanda, Clarence are assisting Amherst Fire. They also plan to look at Walmart surveillance video for clues.
