Telecoms giant Altice to lay off 600 workers in CT
Six hundred people will be laid off from Altice USA’s CT call centers, with the jobs being moved to call centers in other locations.

The employees will keep their jobs through November, the spokesperson said.
The news comes after Altice confirmed that 81 employees were impacted by the closure of a Suddenlink call center in Greenville, N.C. Altice also said that 100 positions have been eliminated at Cablevision’s Bethpage, N.Y. headquarters. That provision was not part of the approval process in CT. The Altice employees in Shelton and Stratford are not represented by a labor union. As part of the Cablevision acquisition Altice USA took over News 12 Networks and those operations will remain unchanged. Cablevision and its Optimum brand have been pioneers in automating the customer service process, enabling customers to modify their service packages, sign up for service and troubleshoot and solve problems remotely online.
TV, phone and internet company Optimum says it’s laying off almost 600 CT employees.
CT reports the back office operations in Stratford and customer call center in Shelton will be closed, but the changes won’t impact field service technicians. As a result, we have seen a significant improvement in customer call volume and patterns.
Cablevision added that it continues to be committed to its CT operations.

Lisa Anselmo, head of communications for Altice USA, said the company will retain hundreds of workers in CT in other jobs – including field service technicians, technical teams that monitor the company’s network in the state and employees at walk-in locations. “At Altice, our core principles are centered on a commitment to our Customers, our Employees and our Local Communities”.
