Andre Ayew has joined West Ham from Swansea on a four-year deal, Hammers co-chairman David Gold has announced.

And Ayew, who featured alongside Payet regularly during the pair’s spell at Marseille before joining Swansea last summer, believes he can help propel the Frenchman onto new heights next season.

The money spent on Ayew has surpassed the £15m the East London club paid Liverpool for Andy Carroll in 2013.

Ayew scored a team-high 12 goals last season for the Swans.

Despite Swansea’s struggles, Ayew managed to score an impressive 12 goals throughout the course of the campaign, and following his exploits it was no surprise whatsoever in seeing a host of clubs expressing their interest in signing the Ghanaian global this summer.

I hope that he isn’t the marquee striker signing talked about prior to the window because although he is a good player he is not in that bracket of player at the moment.

“He’s a friend of mine as we played two or three years together at Marseille”, he told the club’s official website.

New signing Arthur Masuaku joined Sofiane Feghouli, Havard Nordtveit, and Gokhan Tore on an exclusive list of players who have arrived at the Olympic Stadium. “They want to become a bigger club every year and with the new stadium and a new training ground, you can feel they are moving on to another level”.

‘I want to train hard, do my job and show that I deserve to play for West Ham United.
