She is also trying to argue that Saradha scam might have collapsed during the Trinamool Congress regime, but the chit fund company got a foothold during the Left Front rule.

Sending out a strong message to a section of TMC workers who are allegedly involved in “syndicate” business, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday said she would take stern action against them.

Leading her party’s foray into the north east, Banerjee said a people’s government was set up in West Bengal after ousting the Left Front, and similarly another people’s government would be set up in Tripura.

Banerjee said the day Sudip Roy Burman, the erstwhile leader of Opposition in Tripura, and some of his colleagues made a decision to quit Congress protesting against the party’s alliance with CPI-M in West Bengal, it started paving the way for the ouster of CPI-M from the N-E state. “We do not fear all these things because the people are with us”. Entire Bengal would side with Tripura to throw out CPI-M from power. There are no hospitals, no industry, no employment, no teachers, and no university.

“You have done nothing but hatching conspiracy, unleashing violence, spreading canards and making false promises”, said Banerjee whose Trinamool is now the principal opposition party in Tripura after a majority of Congress legislators joined its ranks. I heard that a kilo of potato is sold at a price of Rs 36-40.

“Earlier also she had cautioned a section of party leaders and workers who were involved in syndicates”.

She said the CPI-M was boasting that it had brought rail up to Agartala, when in reality the project was sanctioned “when I was the union minister for railways in 2010”.

Apart from Banerjee, Trinamool Vice President Mukul Roy, and state party leaders including Ratan Chakraborty and Sudip Roy Barman addressed the rally.

Banerjee’s tour was aimed at expanding Trinamool’s base beyond West Bengal. “With this, the tacit understanding between the Left Front and the Congress came out in the open”. Sarkar became chief minister 18 years ago in 1998.
