Pogba ‘back home’ at Man United in world-record transfer

“I feel this. I spoke with him a few times and he gave me energy and positivity. I’m quite happy that if they [footballers] carry on that way, they’re probably better doing it away from us”. “The wait was as annoying to me as it was to you”, Pogba said.

Pogba is the most expensive transfer in football history, but that’s still no excuse for this video. “If you want to be the best player in the world, if you go to Barcelona or Real Madrid you are in trouble because I don’t think the other two big guys (Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo) will let you”, stated the famous coach.

And following United’s announcement in the early hours of Tuesday morning that the Pogba deal was officially done, Mourinho told MUTV: “I know the discussion, I understand that, sometimes in football, things happen and the club breaks the record, but this is only possible at clubs like Man United”.

“This deal is a statement of intent by Manchester United after several years of under-performance”.

United insist that the timing was purely down to their determination to announce the deal as soon as it was done, in order to avoid Juventus going public first – notwithstanding that it was nearly 1:40am in Turin when Pogba officially became a United player.

“It’s just a great feeling, to be honest”.

“My mum told me I would come back here and I told her, ‘You never know, you’ll see, ‘” he said.

He also added: “I just came back to Carrington”. It is just the same and I was thinking about before. I hope we can play well and get the win.

“But, in September, the Capital One Cup starts, the Europa League starts, we start playing three matches a week and then everybody is involved and the squad is good”.

There was a big stage erected at St James” Park and Alan Shearer walked onto it, dressed in the shirt Newcastle United had paid £15m for him to wear, and the “sheet-metal worker’s son from Newcastle, ‘ flanked by two inflatable bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale, waved his outstretched arms to the audience of supporters who had filled the auto park to welcome their new number nine home.

“He is quick, strong, scores goals and reads the game better than many players much older than he is”.

“You have to say Jose Mourinho has been backed to the hilt by the club in this”, he continued.
