Killings in the neighborhood are rare.

Investigators believe that because the shooting happened near a busy tourist attraction, there may be witnesses, the AP reported.

No suspect has been identified or arrested in the killing. “There doesn’t appear to be any outstanding motive right now”, Robert said. Even though there were still several people in the park at that time, there are now no witnesses who have come forward saying they saw the gunman, and police are still collecting security footage to see if there are any clues about the assailant.

“There’s a good chance someone saw something”, Jansing said. “One of the things we’re hoping is if there was somebody in the area at the time taking pictures, taking a selfie, that they’ll call the tip line and share them with us”. According to SFGate, people were playing the game in the area that weekend, including the following afternoon, and that homicides in that location are rare.

Among them was Thoua Moua, 28, who was visiting the city from Fresno with friends. He’d learned of the shooting from a friend who was staying nearby and had heard gunshots the night before. I mean it’s just unbelievable.

The waterfront park, part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, is a popular location with locals and tourists alike, and violent incidents there are unusual.

However there have been instances of players being assaulted and robbed as players become too engrossed in the game. Players can be sucked into the whimsical digital world and partially tune out to their surroundings. CBS 5 reports, however, that there are “no surveillance cameras in the area where Riley was killed”.

Peters described Riley as “a fun-loving teammate that players loved to be around”.

Riley graduated from high school in San Mateo and pitched for the baseball team at San Joaquin Delta College. In the 28 games he played his senior year, Riley had 25 hits and 17 RBIs, and scored 12 runs.
