8 things you should know before jumping into ‘No Man’s Sky’
No Man’s Sky is available now for the Playstation 4 and PC. For this space-age epic boasts a game-world that consists of more than 18 quintillion planets. Yes, you read that right. We’re 10 hours of fun in. (Use R3 to zoom.) Once it’s analyzed, that creature’s species or type of plant is registered with the No Man’s Sky database.

The early portions of No Man’s Sky revolve around collecting resources, and if you want to get going as quickly as possible you’ll want to get good at quickly locating the resources that you need. But there’s a small process before you can start naming every mutant duck after your idiot cousin.

Or, you could just tool around in your spaceship, seeking out new planets, other players and interesting landmarks to enhance your experience. Instead, it feels confident, broadly drawn, and surprisingly human. From here on out you will have to plan the trip to the centre by yourself.

Quite why Sony and Hello Games didn’t have the confidence to show No Man’s Sky to anyone before launch is inexplicable.
