There are mom issues in Transparent season 3 trailer

The cast and crew (minus creator Jill Soloway, who is taking a much deserved break after crafting Season 3) gathered on stage to talk about what to expect in the upcoming season, including revealing the theme: “coming out of your shell”. The dramedy, which nabbed ten Emmy nods for its second season, will return on September 23rd complete with some serious life changes for the Pfefferman’s. Watch the trailer below.

Alexandra Billings, a transgender actor who co-stars on Transparent as Davina, was equally complimentary of Tambor, prefacing her praise for the star by saying it’s something “Jeffrey will not say” himself out of modesty. This relationship continues into season 3, where she “finally discovers her voice – she’s going to tell her side of the story whether her family likes it or not”.

The season three trailer, which debuted at The Critics Association (TCA) press tour, promises even more soul-searching.

‘But at the end of the day, you would think I took off my costume as a performer but you never take off Maura. It also looks like Maura is considering gender reassignment surgery, as a doctor shows a before and after photo of some sort of face lift and chin reduction.

As the Amazon synopsis reads, “All paths converge on a family cruise to Mexico, affirming that though their family history is murky, each Pfefferman is their truest self when they come together”.

Tambor said the role of Maura, which earned him a best comedy actor trophy last year along with a nomination this year, has also changed his life.
