Taraji P. Henson says it’s not her job to dress Cookie

“I wish I could wear a leotard like that”, Henson quipped. Carey, said Henson, “brought a sense of what Mariah brings to the music industry to our show. I’m grateful she spent time with little old us”, Henson said of Carey, who appears in the October 5 episode of the show. Asked by TVLine if Diggs’ Obama-esque Angelo Dubois will be a love interest for Taraji P. Henson’s alter ego, Chaiken teased, “He certainly would like to be”.

Fans of the series will finally find out the implications of Lucious’ decision of marrying Anika (Grace Gealey) in order to stop her from testifying against him at the end of season 2.

In other news, Chaiken said that “Cookie is going to try in season 3 to leave Lucious [Terrence Howard]”, that there “certainly could be” a spin-off with either Cookie or Lucious down the road, and that it’s “not outside the realm of possibility” that Empire could do a crossover with co-creator Lee Daniels’ new Fox music drama Star, though it hasn’t been discussed yet.

“No matter what’s going on at Empire, it’s always about the family”, said Chaiken. “He’s going to have to work because Cookie’s gotten her heart broken way too many times”, she added. To say life has changed for the actress is an understatement. “She’s done. She’s finished being hurt by Lucious”, Chaiken said. “People forget my father came up with a attractive Swahili name”, she said. They only see Cookie. “I tell them bring it to me, I’ll put it on and make it work”.

“They love one another, the path was clear, and all of the sudden, yet another thing from Lucious’ past and the mistakes he made got in the way. I’m looking into my own private jet”.
