Clinton leads in polls; Trump seeks to reset

“She is the candidate of the past”, Mr Trump said.

As she is wont to do, Warren responded on Twitter.

The Clinton campaign is already hitting back pointing out that Trump has been campaigning for more than a year and this is the first time he’s unveiling a plan.

The experts essentially declared the brash billionaire unfit for office, echoing Clinton s criticism by saying that Trump “lacks the character, values, and experience to be president” and displays “alarming ignorance of basic facts” of global politics.

Republicans have been begging Donald Trump to focus on the economy, and he finally did on Monday in Detroit, laying out a plan to cut taxes, create jobs, and revive US industry. He also called for a moratorium on federal regulations, which he framed as strangling businesses.

“Nothing would make our foreign adversaries happier than for our country to tax and regulate our companies and our jobs right out of existence”, he said.

Trump has harshly criticised the Iraq operation, although when radio host Howard Stern asked him in 2002 if he favoured invading Iraq, Trump said he guessed he did.

Mr. Trump sought to draw a clear contrast with Hillary Clinton, saying the Democratic presidential nominee’s economic vision is exhausted and relies on high taxes, “radical regulation” and bad trade deals that have hurt ordinary Americans and cities such as Detroit. That poll showed Hillary Clinton leading Trump by 5 points among respondents overall-but that gap grew to 15 points-45 percent to 30 percent-among voters under age 30, with 35 percent of that group still undecided or opting for a third-party candidate. Secondly, Trump would like everyone to know he’s not even mad and in fact grateful the Republicans who wrote the letter are showing their true colors.

The bombshell letter is hitting Trump’s campaign, just as it was looking for a reboot, with a speech created to jump start both the nation’s economy and his battle against Hillary Clinton.

Trump’s plan to revitalize the energy industry, including coal, would “open a new chapter in American prosperity”, he said.

– On the heels of bad press, slumping poll numbers and talk that his campaign is unraveling, Donald Trump hoped to refocus attention on Monday by staging what he billed as a major economic address from Detroit. Instead of three tax brackets of 10, 20, and 25 percent, he is now proposing a plan with brackets of 12, 25, and 33 percent – the same system proposed by Republicans in the House of Representatives.

“Most fundamentally, Trump lacks the character, values, and experience to be President”.

The GOP nominee proposed streamlining the USA tax system, reducing the number of tax brackets to three.

In his speech Monday, Trump also announced his plan to allow parents to fully deduct the cost of childcare from their taxable income. His current plan would also add to the debt, but less.

Mr Trump has broken with years of Republican foreign policy on a number of occasions.

Leone said Trump can’t be trusted to following through on his trade promises.
