CHICAGO (AP) – The Chicago White Sox have had a roller-coaster season, and James Shields has experienced as many sudden drops as anyone.

Eaton added an eighth-inning solo home run, Nate Jones (5-2) got four outs and David Robertson worked around a walk the ninth for his 27th save.

Orioles 10, White Sox 2: Baltimore’s Manny Machado became the second player in major league history to homer in the first, second and third innings, driving in a career-high seven runs. “I wasn’t hitting my spots. You can’t do that against this team”. Two of those were inside-the-park homers.

Things did not go well from the start when Orioles’ third baseman Manny Machado went deep on a two-run homer to open up the scoring. Machado is the first Baltimore player to hit three homers in a game since Chris Davis on May 20, 2014, against Pittsburgh.

Showalter said the ball hit Machado’s glove. “It’s tough to do”.

“You’ve got a guy that was extremely hot today and is one of the best players in the game”, White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. Pinch-runner J.B. Shuck was awarded home and Narvaez got a single. “It’s pretty awesome, I’m not going to lie”. The Orioles have hit a major league-best 168 homers this season.

Rodon allowed five hits, walked two and struck out seven in six innings, extending his winless streak to nine starts.

Matt Albers came in and attempted to stop the bleeding, but Machado would not be denied his third home run in three innings. Now a ideal 3-for-3 with seven RBI and three runs scored, Machado has homered in each of his three plate appearances thus far into Sunday’s outing at U.S. Cellular Field. He also grounded out in the ninth inning against Michael Ynoa in his bid to become the 17th player in baseball history with four homers in the same game.

“It was OK, not good, not bad”, Tillman said.

A foul ball turned into a tiebreaking RBI single and the decisive run, leaving the Chicago White Sox thanking Omar Narvaez and instant replay.

Jose Abreu was responsible for three of the Sox hits, among them a double and a homer, his third in four games.

Bundy, a rookie right-hander, took a no-hitter into the sixth inning in each of his last two starts.

“Dylan has really developed a real mental toughness through all of it”, Showalter said.

Davis, who homered for the first time since July 10, was back at cleanup after being dropped to sixth Saturday. OF Austin Jackson (torn meniscus in left knee) has been at the ballpark and is off crutches, but he is not closer to returning from the disabled list, Ventura said. C Alex Avila (hamstring) is still feeling discomfort when he jogs.
