Delta Air Lines is canceled 300 flights Tuesday morning as it attempted to recover from a computer outage that wreaked havoc on its operations Monday.

Delta is also giving $200 in travel vouchers to those whose flights are canceled or whose flights are delayed more than three hours.

According to flight schedule posted on the Columbia Metropolitan Airport’s website, the airline canceled a 7:45 a.m. departure for Atlanta and delayed a handful of other flights.

Delta’s challenge now will be to find enough seats on planes during the busy summer holiday season to accommodate the tens of thousands of passengers whose flights were scrubbed.

Donerson says she expects fewer flight delays today.

His initial flight that would eventually lead him back home to Knob Noster, Mo., had been scheduled to depart at 4:58 p.m., but like many other Delta flights – for the second day in a row across the nation – it had been canceled.

Confusion among passengers on Monday was compounded as Delta’s flight-status updates crashed as well.

Delta’s CEO Ed Bastian filmed a brief minute-long apology video in which to address the issue and formally express his regret to affected customers.

Delta is waiving its flight change fees for customers ticketed to travel Tuesday, so if you can rebook to fly another time, you may want to consider it. The airline experienced a loss of power Monday morning that affected operations system-wide. “I travel weekly, so I’m used to it”, Shannon said with a laugh.

Southwest Airlines experienced a similar situation last months; they suffered intermittent computer problems over several days and had to cancel hundreds of flights.

A day after a systematic failure grounded Delta Air Lines flights around the world, the airline cancelled more flights on Tuesday as it struggled to get travelers to their destinations and crews and equipment in their proper locations.

Trebor Banstetter, Delta spokesman, told the Associated Press that after the power cut, key systems and network equipment did not switch to backups.

That was up from about 20 percent of the flights that were delayed in the early afternoon.

U.S. airline Delta today entered the second day of disruption caused by one of its worst system failures by cancelling more than 300 flights.

On Monday, Orlando International had 12 cancellations and 22 delays, airport leaders said. No other customers lost power, a spokesman said.

Delta spokeswoman Susan Hayes elaborated: “We are actually fully operational, it’s just that we’re not able to use that newer interface”.
