In context: Donald Trump’s ‘Second Amendment people’ comment
First off, we’ll note that the core factual claim here – that Clinton wants to “essentially abolish” the Second Amendment – is something we’ve rated False, noting that we found no evidence of Clinton ever saying she wants to abolish the Second Amendment.

But even some Trump supporters appeared taken aback by the nominee’s comments.
Clinton tweeted a statement from her campaign manager, saying: “This is simple – what Trump is saying is unsafe”.
PRESIDENTIAL candidate Donald Trump has suggested that his opponent Hillary Clinton could be stopped by his supporters using their gun rights.
“Second Amendment people have awesome spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power”, senior Trump communications advisor Jason Miller said.
The Second Amendment to the US Constitution grants the “right of the people to keep and bear arms”. “But there IS something we will do on #ElectionDay: Show up and vote for the [Second Amendment]!”
Trump’s remarks were not Tuesday’s only campaign trail scandal. She declined to answer any additional questions about Trump’s remarks. You have the power to speak against her.
“This individual wasn’t invited as a guest, and the campaign was unaware of his attendance until after the event”, Clinton’s campaign said in an email to reporters.
Trump then noted the power Clinton would have to nominate justices to the high court. In battleground states, he was down 11 points in Pennsylvania, five in OH and four in Iowa.
One member of the crowd, who was sitting behind Trump, had a shocked expression upon hearing the comment.
Trump quickly faced backlash for his remark.
Kaine added, “He was just revealing as he has in many other statements that he’s made – just no understanding of the role of the leader, and I don’t find the attempt to row it back persuasive at all”. But the supporter who introduced him, former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani, sought to clarify the remarks, insisting Trump had not aimed to incite violence.
“It’s called the power of unification”, he said.
“Donald Trump does not represent traditional American values, traditional Republican values and the Republican heritage that I cherish”. So if anyone can stop a very anti-Second Amendment agenda, it would be the NRA and the Second Amendment folks.
On the same day, 50 former top Republican national security officials signed an open letter declaring their opposition to Trump.

Donald Trump’s latest comments are causing controversy again on the campaign trail, with some Republicans now saying he’s crossed the line. I’ve pointed out that I’ve always supported the party’s nominee in the past, and that I will continue to work very hard for Republican candidates across the country because I believe that retaining control of the House and Senate is essential, regardless of who is elected president.
