Golfer Lahiri misses halfway cut at PGA Championship

It was the weather and not the golfers that dominated headlines on Saturday during the third round of the 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.

Third-round play will resume at 7 a.m. Sunday morning, PGA officials announced. If not, the tournament could conclude during the week.

The two Americans were the last of 43 groups scheduled to begin Saturday’s third round, but their 2:55 p.m. ET tee time was wiped out once play was suspended at 2:14 p.m.

Kevin Kisner is the current leader in the clubhouse, standing at 5-under and four shots behind the co-leaders after shooting a 5-under 65. “Everything is underwater, regardless of whether the lightning stopped.”. Garcia had a 3-over 38 and was at 3 over for the tournament, while Watson had a 35 and was even for the tournament.

Defending champion Jason Day went on a tear after taking a double bogey on No. 7 by making seven birdies over his next eight holes and having a chance at 63. The final round was played in threesomes off both tees at Kiawah Island in 2012, and Valhalla was a quagmire in 2014, though the last two rounds were played in twosomes and barely finished.

Harrington, a three-time major victor, collected five birdies, including a four-foot birdie putt on No. 18, to move into the tie for sixth at 4-under after opening 71-70.

“It’s a major championship, and we want it to be ran and perform as a major championship”.

SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – After a bad time on the greens during the first round of the PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy returned to Baltusrol Golf Club on Thursday evening to work on his putting.

Lee Mirim couldn’t match her great golf of the first round, but a 71 was still good enough to hold the halfway lead on 11 under par 133 at the Women’s British Open at Woburn on Friday. Then again, Bob Tway was nine shots behind after 36 holes when he won at Inverness.

“Tee to green was good, but it was just pathetic when I got onto the green”.

“Sometimes, things just don’t come easy”, Walker said after hoisting the 37-pound Wanamaker Trophy, unbelievable that he had any strength left after a 36-hole final day brought on my rain over the weekend.

Stenson picked up three more birdies on the front nine and felt as if he could have made more.

“Hit the right shots at the right time and any of the shots that I didn’t hit well didn’t do me any harm”, Harrington said. Soon after he predicted the major-championship record score of 63 “will be broken” by someone this weekend.

Players havent so much as figured out the greens over the past two days, as they have taken advantage of the soft surfaces to give themselves shorter putts and used the slower greens to putt more aggressively and eliminate some of the break.

Henrik Stenson is showing no signs of letdown at the PGA Championship following his record-setting performance in winning the British Open two weeks ago and believes he can stay in the groove.
