The ride “apparently lost power causing the children on the ride to forcefully fall to the ground”, Norwalk police said at the time.

Davis said police have not confirmed reports the basket was rocking before it flipped.
An eyewitness said the ferris wheel vehicle appears to have gotten stuck as the wheel turned spilling three children to the ground.
Tim Davis said the three fell Monday night at a county fair when their seat flipped over.
The oldest was a 16-year-old girl.
Three girls have fallen from a Ferris wheel in Tennessee.
Authorities said the three youngsters fell from the ride at the Greene County Fair in eastern Tennessee on Monday night. He said he couldn’t release information on the 16-year-old’s injuries.
“Emergency responders arrived to find the boy dead in a pool at the end of the ride, according to the statement, which offered no further details”.
Following the Ferris wheel accident, the Greeneville Police Department, the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Greeneville-Greene County EMS, the rescue squad and the Greeneville Fire Department all responded to the scene.
All mechanical rides at the fair have been shut down until third-party inspectors contacted by both Family Attractions and the fair operator have certified them as safe, he said. All rides will stay closed until they are examined by third-party inspectors.
Two of the children were flown to hospital immediately after the incident at the Greene County Fair Monday night.
Lynthacum said the girls’ injuries appeared to be very serious.
Witnesses told News 5 WCYB they saw the basket swinging, but investigators say early indications did not show the basket was swinging. “They bounced off the metal bridging of the ride and eventually hit the ground”. “Stop! Stop the machine!’ It seemed like it was a millennium before it stopped”, Lynthacum said.
Head and neck injuries were the most common at 28%, with 1.5% of the injuries requiring hospitalization, the study said.

People who were trapped on the Ferris wheel had to be rescued from the ride, the Greeneville Sun reported.
