SUNDERLAND have agreed a £5.5m double deal with Manchester United for defenders Paddy McNair and Donald Love.

And now reports from Sky Sports suggest a fee has been agreed for the duo, with Sunderland in need of defensive reinforcements.

Neither transfer prospects made their debut under the current Black Cats boss at United, but both were on the cusp of the first team.

McNair, who was part of Northern Ireland’s squad at the European Championships in France this summer, had made his debut under Louis van Gaal and was a regular in the first-team during the Dutchman’s first season at the club. He has played in a variety of defensive and midfield positions for club and country, but has been most used in central defence. He is now playing for Scotland Under-21s, and made his United debut in February this year in a defeat against Sunderland, also featuring against Midtjylland a few days later. The 21-year-old struggled to have the same impact last season, which saw him make just three starts in the Premier League compared to the 12 during the 2014/15 campaign.
