Lagares finished 3-for-4. Cuddyer was 2-for-4 with two runs and a stolen base while second baseman Wilmer Flores had two hits. Harvey only struck out four but walked none, and he was clearly befuddling opposing batters all night.
Weiss and Gray are right, one guy alone isn’t going to turn around this franchise, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t unrealistically high expectations for Gray. “For the most part it was predetermined”.
RHP Chad Bettis (right elbow) threw three innings in a simulated game. Mets 3B David Wright (spinal stenosis) was scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Class A St. Lucie on Monday night. Everything has the Mets pulling away from Washington over the next week and a half, and if they can continue to play well at home, they’re in for some success.
