PM Modi reaches out to Kashmiris, promises Atal’s ‘insaniyat’

Turning the word “azaadi” around, Modi said Kashmir has the same hard-earned freedom that Indians everywhere enjoy. Politics of some people is clicking, but what will happen to these gullible and simple youth.

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his assertion over the ongoing violence in the Kashmir valley, Janata Dal United JD (U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said the former should use his brain instead of lip-service on the issue, and added he failed to refer about the Kashmiri Pandits.

Invoking Vajpayee’s mantra, he said, “When Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, he had adopted the path of insaniyat, jamhuriyat and Kashmiriyat, and we walk the same road”.

And even as Pakistan-sponsored terrorists use Kashmiri youths, women and even children as a cover to attack Indian security forces, Pakistan has launched a diplomatic blitzkrieg running from one global pillar to another post, crying foul over “Indian brutality in Kashmir”. “We have to chalk out such political measures that the people of Jammu and Kashmir also start loving us”, said Yadav.

Modi, who was addressing a public rally, also asserted that the Mehbooba Mufti government and the Centre are working together to solve the state’s difficulties but some people, who are unable to digest it, are clinging onto the path to destruction. Armed with stones, they have attacked security forces in daily clashes, who have retaliated with pellet guns, rendering almost 100 people blind and leaving many others injured. They want your development. These are not exactly a state secret. Be it the Jammu and Kashmir government under Mehboobaji or the central government, we are finding solutions to all problems through development. While JKLF leader Yasin Mallik was quoted as saying “calling pro freedom Kashmiris as misguided youth is old Delhi policy”, another moderate separatist Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was reported as saying that Delhi should accept, not deny what Kashmiris want. “Kashmir has the same freedom that every Indian feels”.

“Everyone in Kashmir is a victim of militancy”. It is not a lack of outreach by the elected representatives, trust-deficit or any sense of betrayal between the youth and the government.

Though the combined Opposition has been demanding a statement by the Prime Minister on the Kashmir violence in Parliament, he chose to directly address the youth of Kashmir from the birthplace of Chandra Shekhar Azad. And utmost importance must be laid in preventing Kashmir from getting radicalised.

Claiming that all parties have to sit together and find a solution to the problems in Jammu and Kashmir, Azad said the state government can not alone resolve the law and order situation in the state. He was supported by leaders of several other opposition parties. “She is exploiting religious sentiments of the Kashmiris and is plundering their natural resources”.
