Princeton Town Administrator Nina Nazarian said people in town scheduled a vigil for Tuesday night to honor Marcotte and show support for her family.
Police said the town hadn’t had a homicide in three decades.
“We’re still approaching this from every angle”, Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr said. “They just seem to work above and beyond what they have to do to find this person”, Marcotte said, adding authorities have “offered us all kinds of assistance”. “After that, the next day, she was dead”, Marcotte said as he teared up.
Authorities urged residents in the area to remain vigilant.
Her body was found Sunday night by a state police canine unit about a half-mile from her mother’s home. They say they’re receiving “a lot of good information” from calls to an anonymous tip line. “We are deeply shocked and saddened”.
Marcotte worked as an account manager in NY for Google. Vetrano’s father, who ultimately discovered her body, had previously warned her to not run there alone, according to the Daily Beast.
“We are concerned about the safety of our town residents and visitors that enter our town”, Princeton Police Chief Michele Powers said. Police wrote on their Facebook page that “no tip is inconsequential or irrelevant”.
Steven Quigley, a public relations professor at Boston University, called Marcotte an “incredibly sweet, gentle and bright student”.
