Turkish security officials say three Turkish soldiers have been killed and 10 wounded by an explosion in the southeast of the country. According to the statement by the army, the military convoy headed to the HABUR-2 customs gate on the Iraqi border was attacked by a hand-made explosive laid on a road and long-barrel guns, including a rocket projectile fired from northern Iraq. More than 240 people were killed.

Ten soldiers have been killed and dozens have been wounded in a spate of attacks by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) across southeastern Turkey.
A draft document obtained by Buzzfeed showed that the plotters were unhappy with the government’s attempts to make peace with the Kurdish rebels.
More than 600 Turkish security personnel have been killed by the PKK since the collapse of a ceasefire a year ago, according to a toll given by state-run Anadolu news agency on 31 July.
An explosion occurred in the city of Uludere of the Sirnak province in southeastern Turkey, killing five servicemen and injuring eight more, Haber 7 newspaper reported August 10. It is not possible to independently verify the toll. Rights groups have said about 400 civilians have also died.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by the US and the European Union, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
