The new Dynamic also gets the full suite of new driver aids that’s been implemented across the range for 2017, starting with a larger 25cm central touchscreen.

As usual with such things, the more special the edition, the longer the name – this one is officially the Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic, and it’s being punted as the most powerful, best-handling full-size Rangie yet.

That means lowered suspension (by 8mm – that’s less than a third of an inch) with revisions to the knuckles, links, springs and dampers to deliver the ideal balance of comfort and performance and quicker responses. A first for a Range Rover, the owners can also opt for red calipers and Brembo brakes – and the body can be had in three hues, combined with 21- and 22-inch alloys.

The SVAutobiography is powered by a 542bhp supercharged V8 petrol engine which can take the Range Rover from zero to 60mph in just 5.1 seconds. The mill churns out 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque, capable of accelerating the SUV from 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) in a respectable 7.1 seconds.

To keep it in contention with the latest batch of high-tech German SUV rivals, the luxury 4×4 gains option packs with more driver assist systems.

Performance isn’t the sole goal however: the Range Rover range as a whole also previews a series of semi-autonomous driver assistance systems suited to typical Range Rover use, including adaptive cruise control, a blind spot assist system that can counter-steer if you veer into the path of other vehicles, and even an Advanced Tow Assist function to automatically steer the vehicle when reversing with a trailer.

Also included in the Drive Pack is Driver Condition Monitor which analyses data such as steering inputs and road speed, as well as taking account of the time of day, to warn against driver fatigue.

The Drive Pro pack adds further features including adaptive cruise control with “Queue Assist” (autonomous driving in traffic) and “intelligent” emergency braking. InControl Remote Premium allows customers to remotely control vehicle functions such as activating the climate control to cool or heat the auto ready for departure, set and deactivate the alarm, and even start the engine.

19 new colours give customers more choice of metallic and pearlescent colours, widely available in either gloss or satin matte finishes.

The SVAutobiography also comes with a decadent interior with diamond-quilted leather seats, contrast stitching, Ebony perforated leather headliner, and Grand Black veneers for the dash and doors.
