Ichiro records 3000th hit with triple
The New York Yankees capped off an emotional day in which Alex Rodriguez became the latest star to announce his retirement, following hot on the heels of Mark Teixeira, with a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Indians, while the Minnesota Twins were too good for the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3. Miami will also host the Chicago White Sox later in the week at Marlins Park. Arenado led off the inning with a home run. His only other appearance vs. San Francisco was six-inning, three-run win previous year. Fernando Rodney, the fifth Marlins’ pitcher, worked the ninth to earn his 18th save this season and first with the Marlins.

Nolan Arenado had three hits, including two home runs, and five RBIs for the Rockies. The loss left the Rockies 3-3 on a homestand that ends with two games with Texas. Fifteen years later, Suzuki has smashed those doubts in a record-breaking manner: He is now the 30th Major League Baseball player to reach 3,000 career hits, making him the first player of Asian descent to reach this milestone.
Miami players along with third-base coach Lorenzo Bundy rushed out of the dugout and congratulated the player.
Suzuki, 42, hit a long drive to right field that carried just beyond the reach of leaping Gerardo Parra.
The only other player to collect his 3,000th hit with a triple was Paul Molitor.
The jersey, gloves, cleats and elbow pad Ichiro Suzuki wore during Sunday’s historic game in Colorado in which he recorded his 3,000th hit are on their way to Cooperstown.
Suzuki became the 30th member of the 3,000-hit club on Sunday, and was honored by Major League Baseball for that accomplishment.
Ichiro made his Major League Baseball debut with the Seattle Mariners and went on to became only the second player to win Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player awards in the same season.
While Major League Baseball celebrated Suzuki’s achievement, it was even bigger news back home.
WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (AP) – Three days after signing Martin Truex Jr.to a contract extension, Furniture Row Racing announced Sunday that it was adding a second vehicle to its Sprint Cup lineup to be driven next season by Xfinity rookie Erik Jones.
“I’m disappointed with giving up a triple”, Rusin said.
“For the last couple of weeks there have been a lot of members of the media following me”, Suzuki said.
Suzuki struck out in the first inning, hit a comebacker in the third and grounded out to short in the fourth. The way he prepares, the way he plays the game.
Most members of the 3,000 hit club began their Major League Baseball careers around age 21, with the latest bloomer among them before Ichiro being Wade Boggs, who was 24 in his rookie season and went on to amass 3,010 hits.
But for all the time spent prognosticating the day of this momentous occasion, it turns out all we had to do is take a look back into history. The reliever failed to field a soft grounder to the mound off the bat of Miguel Rojas, who later scored on a double by Christian Yelich. I’ve been able to get some hits.

He went on to post a record 10 consecutive seasons of at least 200 hits, reaching his zenith in 2004 when he stroked 262 hits to break an 84-year-old major league record set by George Sisler as he claimed another batting title with a.372 average.
