Arsenal boss Wenger in scramble to sign a defender
Pogba completed his long awaited transfer from Juventus to Old Trafford earlier this week for a world-record fee of £89m, which could potentially rise due to several add-on clauses.

He was impressive in Tuesday night’s UEFA European Super Cup victory over Sevilla, and Zinedine Zidane, the Madrid head coach, may want to give him one more season before moving such an expensive acquisition on.
“Everybody’s ambitious – never has the Premier League been gifted with so many ambitious people or clubs at the start of the season”, Wenger told Arsenal Player.
“We had to pay back the debt”. No matter how much Wenger goes on about “speerit”, he’s not going to raise his game in the red and white. “That’s why maybe it’s crossed the €100 million bar for the first time”.
Wenger has already described the deal as “completely insane”, prompting a riposte from Jose Mourinho, but the Gunners boss feels such transfers cause issues for other clubs.
He said that prognosis was “a bit better than we feared at the start”. So I would say, in France the clubs, amongst themselves, are very reasonable.
The Manchester clubs have dominated the transfer market in England so far this summer, and the bookies fancy them for a one-two in the Premier League table, making City slight favourites.
Wenger has won three Premier League titles and six FA Cups while in charge of Arsenal.
The Frenchman did have some good news to share about Jack Wilshere at the official Premier League launch.
‘He had a little setback recently but its looks very minor and of course for us to have a great season it is important to have a great Jack Wilshere’.
Arsenal face Liverpool on Sunday afternoon in their opening game of the season, with Wenger facing a defensive crisis ahead of the game at the Emirates Stadium.

“But that would take something away from Leicester, who had an exceptional team”.
