Jeff Fisher, Rams cut Deon Long for having woman in dorm

We’ll start here: The Eagles signed wide receiver Deon Long late last week to fill out their 90-man roster.

“We’re going to cut you”, Fisher said.

For the first time in 22 years, the Los Angeles Rams are back in California and HBO is there to provide fans with exclusive footage during this year’s edition of Hard Knocks.

Early in the first of this year’s five Hard Knocks episodes, Fisher was shown standing in front of his players at a pre-camp meeting telling them that his only rules for camp were to be on time and to have no visitors in the dorms.

It turns out that Long had brought a woman to his dorm room during training camp at UC-Irvine, a violation of a strict no-visitors policy instituted by Rams coach Jeff Fisher.

The premiere of the Emmy Award winning HBO show “Hard Knocks” will feature the 2016 Los Angeles Rams, and it will air Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 10 p.m. ET.

“What part did you not understand?” Still, Fisher stuck to his guns and insisted that Long had to go.

Long tried to explain his way out of it, telling Fisher it was before curfew and he had no intentions of having the woman stay. “I thought I made myself really clear”. The Eagles then signed him a few days later on August 5. He’d later refer to Long’s mistake as “7-9 bulls-t” when addressing his team, indicating to players that not following the rules helped contribute to the 7-9 record the team posted in 2015. We had some 7-9 [expletive] this morning and we can’t have that.Deon is gone. Philadelphia is Long’s fourth National Football League team after spending time with the Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, and most recently the Rams. During his two years at Maryland, he caught 83 passes for 1,084 yards and three touchdowns.
