New iPhone rumors report dual-camera system, confirm no headphone jack

A new report from a source that proved to have intimate knowledge of Apple’s iPhone plans over the years seems to confirm some of the iPhone 7’s most rumored features. The Lightning Pod and Earpod will be smart, connected and will cut down the space for 3.5mm jack. He noted that the iPhone 7 will likely at least moderate unit declines, if not drive a return to unit growth.

Weeks away from the anticipated reveal of the iPhone 7, a growing number of videos of dummy handsets and possible cases are being posted to the web.

The new iPhone models will run iOS 10, the new version of Apple’s mobile operating system coming this fall. Instead of a button that physically presses into the phone, the home “button” simply responds to pressure with a vibrating sensation after a click. Rather than having it on the bottom part, Apple has reportedly located the home button on the screen.

According to the Bloomberg report, the iPhone 7 will look similar to the 6 and 6S, but there will be noticeable tweaks. Also, with the dual camera system, photographs taken simultaneously can be merged automatically. Moreover, the dual camera will allow users to zoom in without sacrificing the quality of the snaps. We’ve known for months that the upcoming model, presumably called the iPhone 7, will nix its 3.5-millimetre headphone jack (grr), but one change that has been shrouded in mystery is the dual-camera system supposedly set to debut.

In the new iPhones, replacement of the headphone jack in favor of Bluetooth is expected, paving room for a second speaker. It sounds like the mechanism used by the trackpad on Apple’s new MacBook laptops. Both the current iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 were announced in September and the most valuable tech company has no reason to alter its plans. The first iPhone was released on June 29, 2007.

Apple may have been working on two prototypes for the larger iPhone 7, the rumor has since been shot down several times by the brand’s spokesperson as well as, by reliable tipster Evan Blass.
