Today, National S’mores Day, Girl Scouts of the U.S. announced, in celebration of 100 years of Girl Scouts selling cookies, the organization will introduce commemorative Girl Scout S’mores™ cookies.

Sell the bathroom scale and hide the tape measure in the junk drawer, the Girl Scouts are upping their game.

“S’mores has strong ties to our organization’s history, and this cookie brings a new and delicious way for consumers to support girls and the fun adventures that grow their everyday leadership skills through Girl Scouts”, said Deborah Hearn Smith, chief executive officer of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. As far back as the early 1920s, the tradition of making and enjoying S’mores has been a staple of their outdoor experiences.

Girl Scout councils around the US will be hosting community campfires Wednesday and night and beyond to celebrate the new cookie release.

“We can not wait to introduce our hungry cookie customers to this new Girl Scout S’mores cookie”, said Karen Peterlin, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama. One of the first published recipes for s’mores was in a 1925 issue of Girl Scout Leader magazine under the name “Some More”.

The Girl Scouts announced the new flavors today on “Good Morning America” as the organization approaches the 100th anniversary of the first-known sale of Girl Scouts cookies.

For those not familiar with the famous campfire dish, or the explanation in the movie “Sandlot”, the GSHPA version of the s’mores cookie is a crunchy graham sandwich cookie with creamy chocolate and marshmallow filling.

Girl Scouts of the USA The Girl Scouts are introducing a s’mores-inspired cookie made of a crispy graham cookie dipped in a creme icing and covered in chocolate. The chocolatey coated Girl Scout S’mores™ cookie is vegan, free of artificial colors, preservatives, and partially hydrogenated oils.
