“The Official Script Book of the Original West End Production” will be released worldwide on July 31-Harry Potter and J.K. Rowling’s birthday. Earlier this week, they went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at the Universal Studios theme park.

Movies and merchandise followed, of course, but at its core, the Harry Potter phenomenon is about a good story well told in ink on paper and about the enduring joy of reading. The story chronicles Harry, now 37, married to Ginny Weasley an overworked employee at the Ministry of Magic. The ad for the party had a slogan that said “Join us on the birthday of The Boy Who Lived to celebrate the release of the eighth Harry Potter story!” as reported by NOLA.
There will also be a four-hour Harry Potter celebration of the book’s release beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble at New Mexico State University, 1400 E. University Ave.

Starting at 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, all Indigo and Chapters stores across the country will be marking the occasion with Midnight Magic events. There will be snacks, Harry Potter crafts and games, including Harry Potter Trivia, and attendees are encouraged to wear Harry Potter-inspired costumes.

Manager Samantha Smith said the bakery, which includes a bookstore, will offer such Potter-appropriate treats as chocolate frogs, pumpkin juice and butterbeer (which, Smith explained, is a kid-friendly treat mixing cream soda with butterscotch). The store will be open Sunday from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. “I could easily see young fans adapting to the format and using it to act out the play on their own”. Many bookstores and vendors recommend preordering the book before attending the event; however, there should be copies available on site for walk-in patrons.
