Koehler leads Marlins to win over Giants
The Giants haven’t released why Bochy went to University of Miami Hospital on Monday.

Even Bochy might have flipped to synchronized diving, or tucked into a cup of lime Jell-O and taken a nap.
The previous player to get seven hits in a game was Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Rennie Stennett on September 16, 1975, at the Chicago Cubs. He did it in nine innings, the only big leaguer to accomplish that feat since before 1900. Mattingly said the right fielder will get Wednesday off, as previously planned and doesn’t expect him to miss more time.
The San Francisco shortstop, who entered in a 6-for-36 slide, raised his batting average 13 points to.278. Whenever a hitter had five or six hits in a game, his friends would text.
“I got a couple to drop in and squeak past and then I hit a few balls hard, too, that found holes”, Crawford said. Got to bring him down a notch after seven hits.
“There’s nothing else I want to do other than what I’m doing right now”, Bochy said .
With his hit in the 14th, Crawford joined an even smaller club.
“What do you have to do to get that guy out? I don’t know”, Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. “We didn’t figure it out today”. He’s a tough out right now and obviously, when you’re getting seven hits, you’re feeling pretty good about yourself. He allowed a pair of runners before recording the second out of the inning, but Javier Lopez bailed Peavy out.
The Giants were without Bochy, admitted to a Miami hospital in the morning after feeling ill. The view from the bench Tuesday wasn’t anywhere near as enjoyable. The Giants didn t get another runner into scoring position until the eighth, when Brian Ellington gave up a two-out single to Angel Pagan and walked Belt.
Stennett congratulated Crawford and said he’s been watching him for a while.
At the plate: Hunter Pence was 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. “It just doesn’t make sense, but I’m glad he’s on our side”. Marlins LF Christian Yelich was in Tuesday’s lineup despite nursing an ankle injury. Gordon scored from second base, Martín Prado went to third and he scored on Marcell Ozuna’s ground out. “I’m sure he’s hit broken-bat home runs before”. After a visit from Mattingly, he bore down and got Trevor Brown to pop out to first on his 112th and final pitch.
Unlike Monday, when the Marlins’ bullpen wasted a strong start from Jose Fernandez on the way to a 14-inning defeat, the relief corps put the finishing touches on Koehler’s superlative performance.
Koehler lasted seven innings and allowed only two hits while striking out six. “One run, and two RBIs”. Crawford’s single in the eighth tied it at 7.
“His stuff is good”, Mattinglys said. “They bounced back and from there it was insane after that”. Phelps, who has a 1.20 ERA in two appearances totaling seven innings in his career against the Giants, will face San Francisco right-hander Jeff Samardzija, who is 9-8 this season with a 4.40 ERA. Suzuki tipped his helmet in appreciation before grounding out in his only at-bat. “He’s fine”, Wotus said.

Asked if it is the best four-game stretch in his career, Koehler said, “Hopefully it can end up being the best 12-game stretch”.
