Florida governor announces new Zika cases, Kaine says would vote for funding
Four new Zika infections acquired locally through mosquitoes have been reported in northern Miami, Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Tuesday. Florida is just at the head of it with the first cases of local transmission of Zika. The CDC reports that the virus is contained to one, quarantined patch of Miami’s Wynwood district that measures one square mile.

Texas reported the baby’s death as the state’s first case of microcephaly linked to Zika, reported Chron.
The baby was reportedly pronounced dead shortly after it was born becoming the first death relating to Zika in Texas.
The infant’s mother had traveled to Latin America during her pregnancy and was infected there by the virus, according to the Department of State Health Services.
(CNN) – As Florida health crews work to rid the state of Zika-infected mosquitoes, other parts of the nation are nervously bracing for the virus to spread.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the blame for the gridlock lies with Democratic pro-abortion extremists, such as Clinton’s running mate, Sen. There is no vaccine to prevent or medicine to treat Zika, but hospitalization and death is rare.
Lawmakers should pass the US$1.1 billion (RM4.431 billion) bipartisan bill for the mosquito-borne virus, Clinton said, or come up with a new compromise.
The Zika virus disease is mainly spread by mosquitoes and it is usually not harmful to people.
Zika often causes no symptoms, but is particularly risky for pregnant women because it can lead to the birth defect microcephaly, in which infants are born with unusually small heads and deformed brains.
“I am very disappointed that the Congress went on recess before actually agreeing what they would do to put the resources into this fight”, Clinton said after touring a community health center. The 15th case, reported in NY earlier this month, was the first in which a woman transmitted the disease to a man.
The ongoing Zika outbreak was first detected previous year in Brazil, where it has been linked to more than 1700 cases of the birth defect microcephaly. Pregnant women are urged not to travel to certain countries where transmission is a risk.
