US women’s gymnastics team wins gold at Rio Olympics
Team U.S.A. continues to collect medals in Rio, ahead in the overall and gold medal competitions, thanks to some Olympic newcomers in the gym and some veterans in the pool. They lived up to the hype as the top team in Rio de Janeiro.

Biles, Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Madison Kocian and Laurie Hernandez – took the title ahead by over eight points on Russian Federation with China winning bronze in the Rio Olympic Arena. The U.S. women’s gymnastics team dominates to win a second straight Gold.
Gabby Douglas (15.766) and Madison Kocian (15.933) were especially strong on the uneven bars in the team’s second rotation and Biles’ 14.800 was the lowest score any of the USA gymnasts would post Tuesday. For the Summer Games in 2020, each country is only permitted four team members.
Team Russia took silver and Team China went home with the bronze.
The U.S. team of Douglas, Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross and McKayla Maroney also beat Russian Federation in 2012 to win gold in London. No event was held in 2013.
